Summary

What you need to know about fishing Lake Lewisville

Lake Lewisville is a 29,592 acre lake with roughly 233 miles of shoreline and an average depth of 25 feet. Originally constructed for water supply, present day Lake Lewisville is a combination of Lake Dallas and Lewisville Lake when the Lake Dallas dam was breached in 1957. This lake sits northwest of Dallas and is located along the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in Denton County. Over 20 parks surround the lake, providing many access points and activities year-round. Crappie are common near standing timber and under the several bridges that cross the body of water. Largemouth bass are often targeted in flooded timber along the shoreline and back in coves. Dark colors (black/blue) are the go-to when the water clarity reaches its muddier conditions. The older Lake Dallas area is a well-known location for catfishing. For a great fishing experience without a boat, check out the Lewisville Fishing Barge on the southwest side of the lake! Max Depth: 67 ft, Average Depth: 25 ft
