Smallmouth Bass
TechniqueNed RigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureStumpsSmallmouth were scattered all around on beds and were easy targets with a Berkley max scent lil general in coppertruse color. Love how aggressive the bronze backs are. My best was this 4 pounder. So much fun sight fishing them.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureStanding TimberThe largemouth have begun their move shallow to spawn. After working the spawning areas with reaction baits and not getting many bites, I decided to slow and pitch to visible beds with a strike king rage bug and started to land several fish. Biggest was this 5 pounder who inhaled my bait as soon as it dropped near her. She gave me a nice battle. Love this time of year.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureStanding TimberIt was a typical post spawn day of fishing when the wacky rigged senko was can't miss. Some were caught flipping and dropshotting also but the wacky rigged Berkley maxscent general was the dominant presentation. Nothing real big was caught as it mostly 1-2 pounders but there were a few solid ones pushing 3 pounds caught and of course a couple of even bigger ones that were unfortunately lost during battle but hey, that's fishing. All in all it was a non stop day of fun.

Smallmouth Bass
TechniqueNed RigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructurePointsIt was a bright sunny day with clear skies and perfect conditions to sight fish for smallmouth. Most of the spawn is over with at this point but I did manage to entice a few using a ned rig. Fun day all in all.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureStanding TimberThe spawn was on and I came across some big girls that were sitting on beds. Didn't spend a lot of time trying to entice them but did manage to get several males pitching a rage bug and throwing a wacky rigged senko. Did manage to pick off this 3.5 pounder that I assume wasn't ready to spawn yet. Was a fun day all in all.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureStanding TimberIt took a few hours to get going. Couldn't get on a pattern but then the weather turned in the afternoon and it definitely spurred them on including this big girl that weighed in at 5.7 lbs. The strike king rage bug was the ticket once again.

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureStanding TimberThe bass have finally made their way up to their spawning areas and my usual go to, the strike king rage bug has the ticket again. This is without question, my favorite time of year. I'm looking forward to more productive outings in the weeks to come.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureFlooded BrushThe strike king rage bug was all the rage this day as every fish caught was caught flipping one in staging areas throughout the day. Despite very many attempts to catch them with other techniques, the bass only seemed to want a Texas rigged rage bug. Can't say enough about my success and confidence with this bait.
