TechniqueHover/Mid-StrollingSeasonSummerStructureBouldersHad just under 52lbs for 2 days over Labor Day Fish are starting to get in a great mood. Shaking a minnow is by far working best. Been throwing about any minnow under the sun but those 3 are working decent. Great rod and reel I got listed for doing this technique. So feel free to check it out!!

TechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSummerStructureRock PileFish were hard to come by but managed to grab a few nice ones fishing rock offshore. Swim jigs fished slowly, bouncing off the rock worked best. Could not get a fish to bite the drop shot or a ned rig.

TechniqueNed RigsSeasonSummerStructureRock PileWent up on Saturday afternoon, very calm, cloudy day with some intermittent rain. Kept the lake quiet as far as boat traffic goes. We are just a few days into the fall transition so it may take a minute to find them, but once you find a school or area stay on it. And make sure to try shallow and deep, you may find fish in both areas. I worked a 150-200 yard stretch of shallow rocks (4-6ft) with a steep drop to deeper water (12-16ft). This allowed me to do 2 things. I was fan casting the zman jackhammer up to the shallower rocks picking off several quality fish, all while keeping one eye on my Mega DI looking for the deeper fish on individual boulders. When I rolled over a fish I would drop a ned behind the boat and had good success getting the deep fish to bite.

TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonFallStructureBouldersThe fishing on Mille Lacs is really heating up. I’ve been playing with the Owner wacky hook as a drop shot hook and I didn’t loose one fish. If you get on a school of smaller fish move unless you like catching smaller fish. DO NOT over use your drop shot, meaning I see guys constantly over working it, sometimes letting it just sit is the way to trigger a bite. The bigger fish will usually take longer to bite. If the bigger fish bite right away I always assume it’s a school or fish that’s not very pressured
