My first trip to the Mined Land Wild Life area. Fished #33 on Saturday April 11, 2026. Most all of my catches were throwing an Owner Flashy Swimmer paired with a Crush City The Mayor swim bait. Threw this to every lay down and point I came across. Excellent hook up ratio as I never lost one. All were absolutely pegged in the upper lip. I’m a big proponent of the Flashy Swimmer. And The Mayor is amazingly lifelike in the water. Many times i could see several shad of similar size follow it to my boat. I am typically a Chatterbait guy but more and more I am using this setup. Highly encourage you to visit the MLWA in southeast Kansas. Lots of water to explore. I’m a kayak fishermen and this is like a dream place to fish although I saw several bass boats navigating these waters too.
