TechniqueHard Topwater (Popping)SeasonFallStructureBaitfishGot started at daybreak to practice for a tournament this Saturday. Did not get a bite until I found loads of shad in 3-5 ft of water close to grass. The Azuma popper and a Rapala Husky Jerk got me ten keeper bass. Nothing big, but I had over nine pounds. Weather was warm and sunny at about 82 degrees. Water temps were from 67- 74 degrees.

TechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonFallStructureRiver ChannelsFished at the Gallatin Steam Plant. Just at sunset the Spotted bass moved in the channel and started hitting the Spook just about every cast. Then a 3.25 lb LM slammed hit. Hit the last deep hole before the channel hits the main river channel.

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonFallStructureSubmerged VegetationPredators/Bass Pro Annual Tournament. The winning team had a 12 pound bag caught on Chatter baits, frogs and buzz baits. The winning team covered lots of water to find their winning bites. My day on the water was rough. My practice top-water bite with popper did not pan out. I did catch some short fish on a shaky head on bluffs.

TechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonFallStructureSubmerged VegetationDay two Music City BFL Super. Steady rain and 70°. Water was 78° and they were ripping current. I had a rough day and only caught one keeper but my Pro (Josh Trammel) caught a 12 lb limit on a Zara Spook over shallow grass. Congrats to Josh who took 2nd place in a very talented Pro field of anglers!

TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonFallStructureDocksThe lake has been in a turn over and Shallow docks can house some of the biggest bites on the lake mid afternoon. Look for good shade, and water depth between 3-4ft. Don’t over look a good lay down either. Pay special attention to what the bank looks like, docks and lay downs between bank transitions are money. This is a hero or zero.

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonFallStructurePointsMLF BFL Super Tournament. Cloudy w/heavy rain Water temp was 78° with some stain. Caught 3 keepers for 8.07 lbs. Key bait was a 6" Powerbait worm Texas rigged. My partner caught his 4 keepers on a Rage bug flipping shallow grass and wood. We spent most of our time in the very back of Barton creek. Special thanks to Redemption Rods. I used their 7' heavy action rod to land my key fish which allowed me to finish day one in 4th place.
