TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonWinterStructurePointsFishing is hit or miss on the Pamlico Sound, covering water is the best option right now. A Zman MinnowZ rigged on an 1/4 oz Owner Inshore Swimbait jighead slow rolled is the best way I have found to cover water while searching for a chomping school of fish. Colors like Pinfish and Pearl White are a great choice to begin the day searching for the first bite of the morning and once that bite occurs lock down the Motorguide Pinpoint and begin fan casting different lures until you've filled a limit of speckled trout or get tired of catching and releasing striper that's in the creeks and rivers throughout the sound during the winter months. A few flounder and red drum are still being caught, majority of the fish being caught are striper and trout. Days in which the wind is howling seem to be the best days for slinging baits, calm slick days very few fish are being reported. Tight Lines!!
