Rocky flats had some mostly 12"-13" fish in the skinny water, while the better ones I caught came off the drop-offs near there. Found a couple holding on brush piles and brought those in with the finesse jig/craw combo. With the water level up right now and warmer weather this week, I'd look for them to get up on more sunny chunk rock for pre-spawn.

TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureRock PileHeavy rain from Friday had the water up, with muddier water on the east portion of the lake. Spinner parallel with the bank up in the shallow rocks paid off early in the dirty water. Water clarity was better on the west side, and started to find some areas with water temps hitting 50 degrees past mid-day. Fish seemed like they were more spread out today, but most were all caught up shallow in rocks in sunny spots. Missed a nice upgrade in a shallow nook/arm, so they may be starting to move closer to their spawning spots. Curious if the cooler weather this week starts to push them back toward deeper areas or not.

TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonWinterStructurePointsFound a huge stack of fish hovering/schooling around a laydown at the end of an offshore point. Guess they were grouping up pre-spawn to make their plans for spring with the good weather here of late. Caught a quick limit with 2 fish over 18" in the kayak. Crappie and small bass around as well, caught on a small paddletail. Slow dragging the jig with a few pops here and there got the big girls to bite.

TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonWinterStructureRock PileTook a little traversing around to find the right rock piles, but they hit hard and fast when you found them. Week prior, I let the wind guide my jig slowly through the rocks w/ small pops to get bit. This week, they didn't mind more speed w/quick pops and hitting solid once you hopped over a larger rock. All in spots that were getting solid sunlight, w/best fish coming around lunch time when the sun was high overhead. Even spooked some fish off passing offer shallow flats w/chunk rock, and with water temps slowly creeping up to 50 degrees, bites around other parts of the lake should improve.
