Largemouth BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureMatted GrassIt was a HOT and WINDY day at Prairie Rose State Park. It was the first time I had ever been to this lake, but it did not disappoint. The frog bite was hot to start the morning, but the drop shot helped me upgrade throughout the afternoon. The lake had a weed line around most of the lake that came out 10-15 feet from shore. I was tossing the drop shot off the edge of these weed lines, and the bass were hungry. I caught at least 25 fish throughout the day, biggest being 2.25lb.

LMB were offshore on rock reefs and rubble piles in 6-8 ft. of water. Water clarity is down to less than a foot. Brittle naiad and skinny pondweed have created deep mats and are spread all around the lake. Some LMB still shallow on rip-rap along the dam and points.

Found a pretty decent school in like two brush piles. Caught most of them on a dt 14 but they kinda got scattered out so I went to a Jig Worm with a black Trick Worm and they were choking that. Caught 15 bass out of the same cast each time! Re-tieing was key because I was using 10 lb Suffix Advanced Fluorocarbon for my leader on the Jig Worm and main line for my dt 14!

I used my kayak to get way back in the weeds and used a 1oz punch rig in craw. This seemed to work best around submerged trees in the grass

Just cranking some rock on the point of a channel swing. They were stacked on the point of it and it was producing a little better than average fish! Also cleaned up by fishing a Neko rig behind it and also a finesse jig as well! Caught a lot of nice fish!

Fishing weed edges of Milfoil/Pond Weed in 5-8 feet of water, found scores of 14-16" largemouth. Working slowly with 3/16 oz. weight so bottom contact was felt, this bait was phenomenal.
