I went out to the lake the other day to run my boat around and do some graphing, but I also fished for about 2 hours. I was only able to find one consistent bite, and that was pitching a texas rig into cedar trees sitting in 13-16 feet of water near the edges of the creek channel in Sand Branch. I was about halfway back into Sand Branch when I started to get bit, so it seems like the fish are starting to migrate into the creeks and bays for the fall. The water temperature was 73-74 degrees, and the outside air temperatures were in the low 80's during the time I was out there in the middle of the day. There was a light northeast wind, and no clouds in the sky, and the fish were just suspended about 6-7 feet down on these cedar trees in 13-16 feet of water. I would pitch my Texas Rig into the tree and then watch my line to see if I noticed any movement in the line before the lure hit the bottom. The bite was very subtle but proved to be a lot of fun. I did notice that one of the bass I caught had a small bluegill in its mouth, so I tried my best to use bluegill mimicking bait styles/colors. I did not catch anything very big, but I did catch decent numbers using this pattern and they were all keeper size bass that would be good for filling a limit in a tournament. I have attached a photo of one of the fish I caught on this outing. I imagine if I had had more than 2 hours of actual fishing time, I maybe could have found a bigger bag with a few big fish mixed in, as I really only flipped on about 15 of the hundreds of trees in Sand Branch. Good luck out on the water and tight lines!
