What you need to know about fishing Rice Lake (MN)

Rice Lake is apart of the Red Cedar River that has an abundance of Smallmouth bass, Largemouth bass, Suckers, Sunfish, Northern Pike, and Muskie. The Red Cedar River is only accessible via canoe or kayak, but Rice Lake does have a small boat launch near the south end. For many species, fishing the visible cover is the best way to find and locate fish. The current will position fish to ambush their prey. Using brighter colored bucktails and topwaters will prove to be productive for the Northern Pike and Muskie. However, due to its clear water, the bass will tend to prefer darker, more natural color choices.
