TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSummerStructureLedgesWe were fishing steep bluffs and casting against the bank. I was dragging my unpegged Texas rigged powerworm and letting it fall on semi-slack line until it hit bottom and them pulled it off and let it fall again. The bass were picking it up on the fall. It was late afternoon when the bite started to pick up. Typical summer patterns. The boat was sitting in 25-35 feet of water and the bites were coming in 10-15 feet.

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSummerStructureFlooded BrushI caught my best bass this trip on the free rig with a 6” desert craw Roboworm. We were fishing steep and rocky banks in and around submerged trees and bushes. I threw the free rig on a spinning rig with 12 pound braid to a 10 pound fluorocarbon leader. We also caught bass on Texas rigged Culprit worms and 3/0 round bend worm hooks and 1/4 - 3/8 ounce weights. The key was to fish shade lines with steep rocky banks and fishing close to submerged trees and bushes.

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureBrush PilesFish can be found shallow in 4-7' of water in standing timber n brush piles, also you can find them on humps and ledges in around 25' of water. Deep diving cranks drop shot and spoons work best out deep and stick baits or do nothing creature baits work best for shallow flipping

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSummerStructureFlooded BrushTexas Rig worms and creature baits did well on this heavily pressured body of water. The lake is very high and moving into post spawn conditions. There is a very large amount of fry us the water and lots of bluegill moving around. The bass have a large amount of bait fish to eat so fishing was a lil slower then last few weeks. Had to put in a little more work. Texas rig worms from Roboworms (main star of the show), curly tail/ribbon tail, and creature baits or crazy leg craws did fair as well. Average catches came in 6ft -12ft of water. Slow down, pitch into as many bushes and lay downs as possible, there is a lot and I mean A LOT of brush and submerged trees and every tree could hold a beast or at least hungry buck bass, but again there is tons of fry and bait fish stirring. Combo that with strange weather over last few days the bass are a bit more tight lip’d but catchable. Top water is just around the corner!
