During the tournament we decided to head in to the river, since we didn't find any size in the lake. We fished from 7am - 3pm with one fish on, and it got off boat side. I could count the number of bites on one had...between the two of us. It was a really tough, post frontal day. If I had to do it over again, I would have went back to the lake, and looked for deep water structure.

Prefishing for a bass tournament I had action (but not size) skipping a white senko under docks on the east end of the lake. The closer to the water the dock was, the more action we had on it.

We started fishing weed lines but boat problems pushed us shallow onto docks. We had some action on docks but no size to be found. All in all a disappointing day as I lost a decent fish on a lipless in the weeds early so it could have been a better day.

Move around until you find them (which it doesn’t take long) and once you find them, you’re set for a day of fun! Use a small jig with a chunk of crawler and that’s all you need!

I got out on Shawano lake for a little bit this past weekend, and I was able to catch a couple bass and pike after doing some searching. The lake is turned over and most of the summer vegetation is dead and brown. I fished some dead reed patches and caught a couple small fish, but it was pretty slow. I cruised to the back of a pocket near a marina to shallower area with warmer water (1-3ft), and found some remaining grass that wasn't completely dead. In this same area, some of the dead weeds had formed small isolated this mat areas. I used a frog near these areas and caught some good ones. I also caught come pike on a spook in the same area.

Conditions were flat calm and blue skies today. I concentrated on sharp breaks with good weed lines. I saw a few fish busting out over deep water, but couldn’t get them to commit to anything. All my fish came ripping the Ned rig out of the weed edge.

We worked weed lines and specifically the areas where the weed line came to a point further out than the surrounding edge. You could see fish stacked up just outside the weed edge. Ned rigs are one of the most versatile baits out there. You can catch just about any species on them. The ticklerz last all day no matter what fish you’re catching.
