Sunset to early evening bank trip working 1/2 oz spinnerbait with single tail grub as trailer over and around a variety of available cover including laydowns, rocks, pad patch edges and submerged grass patches in 2' to 6' of water. Worked spinnerbait on medium retrieve, pausing bait when coming off hard cover or popping it free from pads and grass when getting bogged down. Bass would hit once bait came free of cover. Five bass caught in just under an hour and half fishing time with the best of the night shown in the picture. One warning, the mosquitoes were chomping; don't forget insect repellent!

Lots of bank spots around the pond. Typically carry two rods, one med/hvy power spinning; one med/hvy casting. Use spinning for soft stickbaits rigged either Texas or wacky; casting used for spinnerbait or chatterbait. Work baits around visible cover (rocks, rip rap, laydowns, culverts) and dark patches in water (typically submerged grass or pad stems) trying to keep bait parallel to edges when possible. Prior knowledge of previous year's weedbeds helps (take note for future as they form this year).
