Water warmed pretty quickly into the upper 60's by mid-late May and that brought everything to the bank. Bluegills, crappies, largemouth and pike were all very active in the warming shallows. Best presentation for panfish was searching for hot spots with a small spinner then slowing down with small hair jigs and small jigs with plastics. Floats helped with casting distance and accuracy on windy days. On sunny days, the crappies were just under the surface (and spooky) making for great visual casting targets. Super-light titanium wire (Terminator, BPS or AFW) likely prevented a few pike bite-offs with the spinners. Great opportunity to grab an UL rod and get kids on the water enjoying the great outdoors!

Water temps are warming from mid-50's so many baits and techniques are working for multi-species success throughout the day. Walleyes early and late, pike and both species of bass throughout the mid-day hours. Cover water looking for the warmest water with new green weeds and throw the tackle box at them!
