I kicked off the morning at about 7:30 a.m. under some beautiful skies at Table Rock Lake, and it didn’t take long to get into the fish. I started out with a half ounce Queen Tungsten jighead paired up with a Motion Fishing Motion Minnow, and that combo did not disappoint. The fish were eager, and before I knew it, I was sitting on around 15 pounds of bass just from that first spot. After that initial action, I decided to run further down the lake. I found the mouth of a creek that was absolutely loaded with bait balls, just clouds of shad hanging out. So I switched it up to a three quarter ounce Queen head and put on another Motion Minnow, this time a 4.25 inch size. That move paid off, and I pulled multiple four pounders out of that school. As the day went on, I noticed a pattern, the fish were really keyed in on the shad. When you found the shad, you found the bass. Early in the day, those shad were more at the mouths of creeks, but as the hours went by, they drifted a little farther back in. Any minnow-shaking tactic worked great, and I honestly didn’t need to try any other lures because the fish were holding deep and were happy to hit the Motion Minnows. In summary, if you’re heading out to Table Rock Lake anytime soon, keep an eye on those shad. Find the bait, and you’ll find the fish. Grab any of the hot baits I mentioned, and you should have a solid shot at some good bass action out there. Happy fishing!

Bass and Crappie were suspended under Shad or relating to the original creek channel in the larger creeks of the mid section of the lake from Mill Creek to Aunts Creek. Caught most the bass on a damiki rig and crappie on a Bobby Garland Baby Shad. Caught a few crappie shooting docks also.
