Largemouth Bass
TechniqueBuzzbaitsSeasonSummerStructureRiver ChannelsFish moved to upper ends of tributaries where run in from a summer storm made the water slightly off color. Fish were concentrated where channel bends were up against the bank. Early morning till about 10:00 buzzbaits or whopper poppers parallel with the bank were triggering explosive strikes from both largemouth and spotted bass. Later in the day trick worms pulled down the gut of the channel at the very upper end of the drain in 3-5 feet of water continued to generate bites. 1 in 10 would be a keeper on the worm and 1 in 3 on the top water. All together I caught about 35 fish in 2 mornings from about 6:30 to 11:30 am from the shell knob area to eagle rock area.

Spotted Bass
TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureStanding TimberOn mondays trip we targeted the mid lake section of Table Rock. We fished from Aunts Creek to Cow Creek. We caught the spots really well. The fish we in the trees and 28-32 fry seemed to be the sweet spot. We caught several out on the longer points but the trees definitely had the better quality. Several spots hit the deck that were in that 3 lb range! Get out there and enjoy it. It was hotter than hell but the fish but all day 👍.

Smallmouth Bass
TechniqueUmbrella RigsSeasonWinterStructureBaitfishI was constantly scanning my forward-facing sonar left and right, I was looking for schools of bass. I wouldn’t even make a cast if I didn’t see them on my unit. The bass I was finding was in 5’-10’ of water on the flats that were close to deep water. These schools were moving looking for bait, if I could get my umbrella rig within 5’ of them they would attack! I ended the tournament with 14.67 pounds with a 5 fish limit. I had caught many other keepers prior to this 5 fish limit, the interesting part was all of them were over 2.8lbs with the largest being 4.1lbs. They seemed to be schooled by size for sure. The only bait I caught fish on that day was the Yum Yumbrella Umbrella Rig 5 Wire 5 Hook Ultralight with Keitech Fat Swing Impact 3.8” Sight Flash rigged up in the back. I was using 12# P-line Fluorocarbon line paired with my Daiwa Tatula and a 7-6” rod. Never caught a bighead but still managed a five fish bag over 14lbs.
