I was finding smallmouth in areas with fast current and deep water as well as areas with partially submerged vegetation on the bank and deeper water nearby. Bladed jigs and small paddle tail swimbaits were getting bites even in mid-afternoon.

Cloudy morning and muddy water, it worked best to use a vibrant color like pink or chartreuse. Was able to find a bunch of smallmouth piled up in shallow areas around where the islands split the river. Casting the swimbait up stream and reeling back with the current caught about 30 bass in the morning.
