On lake Chisago before the largemouth bass spawn, shallow bays with stumps can be great. The bass migrate towards the shallower bays to set up for spawn and use stumps as a stopping point on their way to an eventual spawning bed. These bays have some grass, so a weedless presentation like a swim jig has produced for me. Cover a lot of water and try to make contact with the stumps to trigger a reaction. I like this technique on a 7'+ MH rod with 17lb fluorocarbon line. An Outkast swim jig is hard to beat. 1/4 to 3/8 swim jig with a 4" grub trailer is all you need!
