In the late summer while most anglers focus their time deep, there is a good percentage of bass that stay shallow on rocky reefs. Top baits like Zara Spooks or Rapala X-Pops work great to entice big smallmouth. The key is to find good grass in the area with bait activity. Position your casts to run on the inside weedline for best results.
