I got out on Wheeler and took my neighbor's kid who is getting into fishing. I figured the shad spawn would be a good time for him to catch some. I took him to one of my yearly shad spawn area and they were there. We caught them on Nichols spinnerbaits, Cumberland Pro Bama Swim Jig with a Riot Cyclone trailer, and 6th Sense Dogma during the shad spawn. When the shad spawn bite died, we went and fished off shore dropshotting and dragging worms and c-rigs. We had a good day. Take a kid fishing, when you can, it is so rewarding.
