A warm breezy fall day. All in less than 5 ft of water. During sunny periods good size bass caught over shallow rocks with a black chatterbait. When cloudy, taking to the shoreline between docks with a buzzbait and Whopper Plopper caught even better bass.

This was a bass fishing trip but the monster pike made for too good of a photo! Had luck today almost exclusively on the chatterbait. Caught multiple bass over 3lb in addition to the 35" pike in the photo. Fished weed edges in 8' deep or less. The trick was the chatterbait had to have a gold colored blade today. I paired mine with a spunk shad.

We found bass on the thickest clumps of green vegetation, mostly coontail and cabbage, around schools of bluegill. There were plenty of healthy pike mixed in as well. It was nice to finally have some fall weather this season.

The hot bait was a Tokyo rigged Chigger Craw. Fished painfully slow through the weeds in 5'-7'. Not many fish were caught due to the cold front, but all of the foolish were between 13"-19.5"

The bass were in schools off the edge of the lily pads in submerged vegetation. I threw my chatter bait parallel to the lily pads. A cold front came in the day before and the bites were less than aggressive, but I got a few to chew!

I got a few to chew yesterday on Lake Ann. Best thing about fishing week days this time of year (October) is that I had the whole lake to myself from 10am to 3pm! WOOHOO! 🥳🔥🥳

Decent day out on Tonka. We had to weed through a lot of smaller ones to find any quality. The clearer water seemed to hold the best fish.

Tossing around laydowns in around 2 to 4 fow was working very well. Boat position was important. Once you caught one, you could find a lot more schooled up. Slowing down and flipping a jig or craw style plastic also worked well.

Flipping any areas that still had thick grass to the surface was the deal. Finding areas that had multiple types of grass help a lot. When you found fish there were always more in that same area

Today I was flipping inside the grass weed edge. I was catching them in and around 10-15 fow. Tie on a flipping hook so it won't get snagged up on weeds. Hop it a couple times and if you don't get bit reel it in and repeat.
