Wonderful fishing day for kayak fishing. Low wind out of the west partly cloudy. Pitched a Crush City Janitor (Sprayed Grass color) Texas rigged with Woo Tungsten 5/16. Let it drop near the trunk. Twitch a few times. Several bites felt like I got a little hung up but then my line jumped and I set the hook. Caught a 3.5lb and 4lb using this technique. Lost what could have been my PB when taken under a limb. The risks of fishing trees. All in all a great day. Kill Creek Lake is a wonderful small lake to fish.

When targeting bass, the key is selecting lures that match their feeding habits and the conditions of the water. Soft plastic worms, especially rigged with a Texas or wacky style, work exceptionally well in both shallow and deep water. Topwater lures like frogs and poppers create exciting surface strikes, especially in warmer months when bass are aggressive. Crankbaits and spinnerbaits help cover more water, making them great for locating bass in lakes and rivers. Jigs, particularly when paired with trailers, mimic crawfish and are perfect for enticing bass near structures. Live bait like minnows and nightcrawlers can also be effective, especially when fishing slower-moving waters. Adjusting lure size, color, and retrieval technique based on water clarity and temperature will maximize your chances of landing a trophy bass!

Found them tight to cover. Most of the time I wouldn't even feel the bite but would see the line moving and feel weight.

I fished pretty much every piece of rock on the dam end of the lake including the dam and the rip rap around the power plant. The bites were few and far between but when they came they were big! We caught just over 20 pounds for our best 5 and every fish came on the wart. Getting your bait down quick and varying your retrieve was the key.

Running bladed jig over some coontail in the shallows just outside the cove next to the dam just before sunset, caught many bass here in this cove and around the dam, this happened to be the largest of them for me

The key to this win was ripping the spinnerbait through submerged hydrilla. The bites were coming once you ripped the bait through the final edge of the grass. The bass were staged on the edge ready to ambush baitfish coming through the grass toward the main lake.
