I was trying out a new ultralight rod set up with a 1000 size spinning real. 8lb braid to a 4lb fluorocarbon leader. Slowly drug the ball jig head and snack craw (similar to a Ned rig) right along side the dock. Lost this bass (or another) on the first cast and caught the bass on the other side of the dock on the the third cast. The bass was only 12 inches long, but was fun catch and release. I’ve heard a lot of hype about Great Lakes Finesse and I’m really impressed with this bait for the short period of time I used it.

Beetle jig no spinner looking for panfish off docks at north end of lake system creeks. Caught a largemouth. Water was well above 50degrees in the regional park area. Largemouth seem to be playing shallow in back creeks.

Had an absolute blast in Pool 2 the other day! I was finding deep backwaters and was flipping black and blue jigs on the deeper trees and rock. Fish were picking it up on the fall and were choking it! be careful for floating logs and high water around this time of year. Also got a smallmouth and some largies throwing a swim jig at the undercut bank as well. The best 5 was 16.31 and the big was a 4.14 river stud!

Right away in the morning I found a few groups of 2-4 fish swimming around on an offshore rock area. The 110+1 was key as I was fishing in 8-12 feet.

Things are happening on the river. This warm spring has the fish up and ready to eat. Saw my first fish on a bed in April in 64.5 degree water. Normal spring shallow weedy flats with the swim jig was producing. Flip the Rattlin AT jig at any wood or targets you see along the way.

First club tournament in my life in La Crosse! Cold, sleeting, and camping that weekend. What did I learn? Fish current, rocks, and any cover. Change up your presentations until you figure out the pattern. Learn to slow down and speed up when fishing. PS: look out for trees and debris. The river changes all the time. Water is warm enough to give those wingdams a break and go looking shallow for some largemouth. Great time to target bass pulling up on laydowns and rock walls.

Interesting lake. Not much access as it is private and there is a bridge and walkway that is popular for Mayo employees and the community. My tip is fish from the bridge when the water is high. I caught largies, smallies, crappies and there are carp. For more details contact me at @reeelingwithrigo on Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok.

Fish were just starting to move out onto the mid-depth rock piles, they were aggressive in the morning and very nonactive during the day. would cast the ned and wacky at the biggest rock and let is soak.

The majority of bass were in their post spawn phase and were keying in on bluegill that were getting ready to spawn. I spent the day focusing on shallow grass flats with clean vegetation near docks. There are lots of areas that near docks where homeowners clean off the bottom of the lake with their weed rollers that welcome bluegill to bed. I utilized my Humminbird Mega 360 to find the "honeycombs" and casted at areas where the grass edge met the bluegill spawning areas. Caught most of my fish on a Outkast Stealth Feider Jig in Money Craw color with a Strike King Rage Chunk as a trailer in the Blue Craw color. Did not fish deeper than 8 feet of water this day.
