I utilized my Garmin LiveScope and seen that they were doing more following the hitting so I put bait pop on the trailer and I started to get more bites

The pre-spawn bite is on! The fish have made their way shallow to the warmer water and are holding to rocks and underwater cover that retains warmth. Fish were actively chasing crankbaits. Finesse fishing did not yield any results. The bite will continue to get better as the weather warms up.

Largemouth bass are grouping together and holding close to submerged timber and standing trees. The fish are starting to come to shallow water in search of food. As the weather has been warming up they have been actively chasing moving baits. Squarebills have been getting reaction strikes and slow retrieved spinnerbaits have also been getting bites.

Bass are actively chasing moving baits even in the extremely cold water. They have already started to move shallow and are holding close to cover like submerged wood and rocks. Flat sided crankbaits and lipless crankbaits are working well. Slower presentations such as spinnerbaits and jerkbaits are also getting bit.

Was able to find some pretty good fish on rip rap despite the super dirty, low water conditions. The water was still pretty cold, so they weren’t eating it very well, mainly getting the back hook, but I was happy I could get a reaction bite. First bass of 2025 was a 4lber so hopefully that’s a good sign!

Got out to this lake for the first time this year. Still pretty cool and it was super windy (20-30mph sustained, 30-40mph gusts), so not the easiest in the kayak. Was still able to find some on laydowns with the old reliable ned rig. Nothing huge, but fun!

I found a bigger large mouth fishing from shore on a dock. Pretty surprising catch with the average size fish in the lake being 12-13” with this one being about 2.5lbs. Water has come up with the ton of rain we’ve gotten so the bigger bass seem to have come up some.

Right when I got on the water I noticed small, bite-size bluegill were cruising along the deeper weedlines, so I knew right away that was the forage. Picked up the rage bug and that was the end of it. Was able to find a decent pattern which was pretty cool on a lake this small and in unusually clear water. Even found some crappie and bluegill on a brush pile for the frying pan! Can't complain, good spring day!
