Smaller males were up shallow. Bigger fish were in deeper water on the main lake facing side of points. Slow current was pushing back into bays/creeks. High pressure system today pushed the fish deeper or deep into heavy cover. Had a missed blowup on a buzzbait first thing in the morning. Only topwater action I got from 6am-7:45am. All other bites came on the wacky worm despite throwing other things to attract bigger fish.

Fished open water depths 15 foot plus. Was throwing spoons and let hit bottom and pop off the bottom while moving rod around to the 10 o'clock position and let it fall. Caught a couple using this technique for a hard day of hot summer fishing. Spoons with flash will land you some fish good luck!

Jig bite was on fire today. The largemouth were coming up from deeper river/creek channels to feed along the rocky slopes. We were casting directly at the bank and dragging/popping the jig. Most bites came about 10ft or so into the retrieve in about 10-15ft of water.

I was casting the shakey head up against flooded cypress trees and letting it fall straight down. If they didn’t hit it on the initial fall, I would hop it a couple of times and then reel it in for the next cast.

This evening on Kentucky lake was a blast. Decided to stop and fish on the bank for awhile along riprap this evening using the new urchin bait. Seen a lot of hype about these urchin baits and I can tell you one thing I'm a firm believer in them now. Get y'all some of these highly recommended! Rigged the randamu ox blood 19mm with the baitlocks system with only 1/8 oz weight and a 4/0 VMC flipping hook. Cast it out and let it sink for a few seconds and start jerking it like you would a jerkbait. Jerk jerk pause and the fish unleashed on these urchin baits. I caught smallies and large mouths one after another within half hour. These baits are a must have. The baitlock system works great with a really good hook up ratio. Good luck and have fun

Great day for fishing on Kentucky lake. Fishing transition areas near some ledges where bass are moving to. Starting the summer transition. Some bass still shallow near standing trees and stumps. Used a strike king sexy dawg hard knock in the natural shad color. Cast near the structure and walk the bait 5 feet and pause 5 feet more and pause and watch them explode on it when you pause the bait.
