Damariscotta Lake Fall Largemouth Fishing

What's up everybody? This is Omnia Fishing's Current Conditions Report. I'm Cameron and today I'm going to tell you how to catch large bulk bass in the ball transition on Damariscotta Lake. So the fall transition is going to be when that water temp starts to creep below 70 degrees and at that point we're going to want to target shoreline grass or isolated grass pieces. They could be offshore where a shoal comes up. It could be along a shoreline. They've got some docks and some lily pads with some grass that's sticking up out. But what we're going to want to focus on there is because the bass are coming up and they're trying to push this bait up into these pockets. The bait are going to want to go to that grass so that's going to be where the majority of their food source is. So that's where we want to cast. Now not all grass is created equal. We want to look for the thickest, nastiest, darkest spot in that grass and that's going to hold the largest fish. That said, you want to look at the canopy obviously. Any points that stick out points are another good spot. Something that's different. You don't want it all to look the exact same because at that point your mind's all pitching and foot the entire thing. You want to look for the differences. So the darkest spot, the thickest point, the longest point that sticks out. Offshore you would want to work on the edges first and then work your way into the grass. So that's what we're going to be targeting in this video. We're going to be utilizing what I call a one-two punch here. So same baits, different techniques, same rods. That said, these are the two baits that I would throw if I'm looking for the fall transition large mouth-bast in grass. Texas rig, either a Zoom Z-craw or Missile Baits D Bomb, 5/0 EWG, half ounce flipping weight pegged. My follow-up bait for that would be this guy . Which happens to be a VMC Tokyo rig, 5/0 flipping hook, half ounce tungsten weight. This is my follow-up. Same baits, D Bomb or Z-craw, either way, whichever one I'm throwing on the Texas rig I have the other one tied onto the Tokyo rig. Tokyo rig just holds that bait off the bottom just a little bit. Sometimes you can get that follow-up fish if you miss the strike. Rod and Reel, this is a Dobyns champion extreme. 746, this is a mag heavy fast rod, a lot of backbone, which you need to get out of that vegetation. Paired up Shimano Scorpion DC 151, XG 7.2 to 1 gear ratio, 30 pound braid, no leader, and that is how I catch large mouth bass in the fall transition on Damariscotta Lake.
