Without a doubt, the options of soft baits that are available to an angler are nearly endless, with variations in the shape, size, color, and material of the plastic. It’s important to consider the species of fish you’ll be chasing, since certain styles of soft baits were specifically designed with different species in mind, The Omnia Relevant Tackle Filter takes a multitude of factors into account and optimize your soft bait selection for your specific lake.

For example, plastic leeches and minnows work best for walleye, while jumbo swimbaits work best for pike, muskie and bass. By matching the soft bait options to the available forage in your body of water, you’ll have a better chance of getting a bit. A minnow imitating soft bait might work better where minnows are the natural food supply, while a craw imitating soft bait might work best when bass are picking them off for a meal. If the forage base is shad or another form of baitfish, then the optimal solution is likely a swimbait, hollow body, or jerkbait. Creatures, grubs, and leeches make great options for jig trailers.

By taking into account the water clarity of a given body of water, the Omnia Relevant Tackle Filter will narrow down the endless soft bait color options available. In stained or muddy water, dark or fluorescent colors will be the ticket. These include black and blue creature baits for bass, or a chartreuse grub for walleye. For bodies of water that are clear, natural color patterns like green pumpkin and watermelon red flake may prove to be the hot bait. Utilize Omnia to explore your options before you set out on your next fishing trip.
