Z-Man chatterbaits always deliver on Bello Lake for Bass and Pike. I threw this same bait most of the day and caught a nice mix of pike and bass.

Only small fish were up shallow and easy to catch during the first days of this trip. The weather was unseasonably hot and the water warmed quickly. On my 5th straight day fishing Bello Lake in Itasca County. A storm was heading in for the afternoon and the fishing was 🔥🔥🔥! I boated 3 bass over 18", missed a couple that were over 18" when they spit the hook on jumps and boated at least 30 bass. WOOHOO!

Covering water with a chatterbait is effective, hitting every laydown you can—and there are a lot in this lake. When the cover got too thick, switched to a swim jig and caught fish on that as well. T-rigged Rage Bug got the only decent bed fish I found.

Top water was the ticket today for me. Threw the same Frog and bone colored Whopper Plopper all morning for steady action. The biggest was this 19.5" 🐷 🥳 📣

Woohoo! Caught some Toads kayak fishing on one of my favorite Minnesota Lakes. The hits just kept coming on this day.

Casting the Whopper Plopper right up to the edge of the pads, into open pocket areas, or parallel to the edge of the pads produced lots of blow ups from bass and pike! The action accelerated and the bite got hotter when the sunny morning turned to overcast skies. That accelerated the feeding frenzy!

I fished late afternoon to dusk. The bite was hot from 4:30 to 7:30! I caught 13 bass and 5 pike and lost more. The Z-Man Big Blade Chatter Bait was popular. In calm areas, the Whopper Plopper 90 Loon color generated strikes. Bello Lake has a healthy population of bass and pike. There is low motor traffic most times I am there. Many times, I am the only one on the lake. It's a favorite of mine when I'm in the area with my kayak. Check it out!
