Fishing report is for 7/12/2023. This was a Greenhorn Wednesday night tournament. We fought through tons of 11 and 12 inchers to come up with the win! My brother came through in the clutch with a biggun on the yamamoto hula grub with about 15 minutes in the tournament! It was about 3.5lbs for the 2nd largest fish of the night. Caught a ton of fish on drop shot rugs, senkos under docks. Overall a good outing with a bit of luck at the end.

Weeknight derby, threw everything everywhere, only bites were picking the yamatanuki into think cover (pads/thick reeds). Adding a flipping wieght helps get it under cover, but try to make wieghtless work. Caught a dozen fish this way

Lake is full of small bass. Best way I have found to catch consistent keeper fish (12in minimum) is by frogging the pads, or running top water toads through the reeds. Finding 5 keeper bites, and a kicker or 2 will put you in a good spot in most tourneys. a bag over 12 lbs is a big bag on this lake.

Weighted and weightless letting it sink deep down into the weeds and slow retrieve. Lots of small bass was unable to find the Biggins!

Had a tournament on the lake this weekend. Caught about 30 bass on a 3/8 oz Jackhammer with a Strike King blade minnow trailer or a jig. Most of my fish were caught burning the chatterbait over the grass in 6-10' feet. Not many big ones but lots of fish around.

Lingering cloud cover keep the biggest bass of our day chewing on the reed edges. We threw wacky rigs with 5" Yum Dingers and 2/0 VMC Octopus hooks to the edges of the deeper reeds. That produced bass all afternoon. Look for reed edges that are in 4-6'.

Texas rigged 5 inch Yum Dinger plastic worms continue to produce around docks on Big Marine. There's a lot of vegetation around the docks on the lake, so weightless Texas rigged keeps the worm weedless.
