Largemouth BassTechniqueNed RigsSeasonFallStructureLaydownsThe bass were hitting on ned rigs a few weeks ago. I recently went out to Blue Marsh and threw a Z-Man ned rig at the bank and caught a total of 24 bass. All these bass were between 7" - 18". I noticed that the bass were mainly staged around the laydowns and weedbeds going down the Spring Creek arm in the No-Wake zone.

Largemouth BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonFallStructureOpen Water/BasinI was drop shotting in 12-8 foot of water. It was a wind blown back bay. There was a neck down near this area. I was casting out and letting it keep bottom contact. I had the bait roughly 1.5ft off the bottom. I would give tiny shakes with long pauses. Thid produced about 6 largemouth and one smallmouth in a few hours.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueFootball JigsSeasonFallStructureRock PileThe bass are starting to key in on crawfish right now. Finding rock or rip rap and dragging a jig around has been really effective. The lake has been lowered for the winter however so the water does look a lot different and you need to be careful of shoals when running around.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonFallStructureRiver ChannelsIt was a great day fishing with my buddy Mitch from Due North on this cool fall day. We boated around 25 smallmouth and largemouth up to 3lbs on a variety of smallswim baits including the Z-Man Diezel Minnowz and Finesse TRD. Getting around the schools of bait put us in areas where the fish were feeding heavily as the water was falling for the winter draw down. Water was in the high 50's and low 60's depending on the section of the lake. Water was fairly clean and really let the fish key on the natural baits. I even got a giant bonus walleye on the trip that smashed the Diezel Minnow.
