TechniqueDeep Diving Crankbaits (13'+)SeasonSummerStructureHumpsI went out fishing for largemouth bass this morning. The air temperature was about 78 degrees while the water temperature was about 80 degrees. While the sun was still low in the sky, I found a small school of largemouth bass offshore with a Berkley Dredger 14.5 deep diving crankbait! Once the crankbait bite stopped I immediately switched to a dropshot with a Live Target Ghost Tail minnow on the hook. Got two hits but no fish were boated. When the sun got high in the sky I switched to flipping a Texas rig with a Missile Baits D Bomb. I ended up catching 2 on the outside edge of a weed bed, including a 3 pounder! Blue Marsh lake is a tough lake and I consider this a successful day.

TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructurePointsMy buddy Matt and I went to the lake today for about 6 hours. We scanned main lake points and just deeper banks for any type of structures. We were able to find some fish. I caught 6 fish, 5 of them being smallmouth between 10-12 inches. One largemouth that was about 12-13 inches. Found a school of stripers as well but they wouldn't eat anything.

TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureLaydownsToday I fished the main creek arm that is no wake zone. I started at the ramp and went all the way to the end of no wake and back, total of 8 miles. I caught 22 bass a mixture of smallmouth and largemouth. 19 of those were between 5-10 inches. But I was able to land a 3+ pound largemouth. I also lost one next to the kayak that was around 2.5lb. All the fish were caught throwing a Berkley Flatworm on a dropshot. Casting against the bank aiming for laydowns and bushes. Though some were caught in the 10-20 foot range along the steep banks as well. Awesome first time at this lake will be back for sure!
