TechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureLaydownsFun day running spinnerbaits around flooded timber/laydowns and steeper shorelines in the pouring rain. Caught about 25 or so largies and one smalie. About 80% of the fish were caught on the spinnerbait the rest where on the jig.

TechniqueLipless CrankbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationWith warming water the fish were piled into shallow bays with vegetation or brush. Lots of fish were around 8 feet with somewhat clear water, however we still got some up shallower on chatterbaits.

TechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationCaught most of my fish swimming a jig in 4-8 ft of water. Most of my bites came on weedy shorelines with Steep drops into deeper basins. Xzone swammer 3.5 in on a homemade swim jig was the ticket for me. Then I would follow up with the magic worm on a home made ewg ned head to pick up a few extra bites. Fun day of catching numbers just no big ones

Smallmouth Bass
TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSummerStructurePointsIt was a finesse fishing type of day so I went with about the smallest and lightest jig set up I could cast effectively to cover shallow flats with some rock. Areas around obvious points dropping to about 6ft were best. Rage Ned was the ticket with all appendages flapping freely and some orange garlic Spike-It on the tips of the tails. Slow but effective day on some quality smallmouth.

TechniqueInline SpinnersSeasonSummerStructureLaydownsLocated smallmouths of various sizes scattered around areas of rock and wood. Bugger fish preferred the areas closer to noticeable current. Covering water burning the spinner was key to catching the most aggressive fish. Water temp was cooler than peak due to the cooler mornings.

TechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSummerStructureRiver ChannelsFound smallies of various sizes relating to current areas near relatively steep dropoffs. Fish noticeably started moving away from prime summer spots as the water cooled. Smaller baits like the Bassman compact spinnerbait were perfect for covering water and intercepting the active biters.
