TechniqueNeko RigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationFished the first part of the day with my son. He cleaned up the shallow flats with a Crush City Janitor. Fished the second half the day with a buddy. Casted the deeper flats and caught a few nicer (for this lake) fish on a jig/chigger craw. Pleasure boats and ski team were active everywhere.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueNeko RigsSeasonSummerStructureDocksFish were up fairly shallow early and the finesse jig was a major player. As the day wore on we slid out deeper catching them on Neko Rigs and Drop Shots. No truly big fish but lots of bites today.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationWater temps are rising into the mid 70’s and the fish are finally starting to transition to summer patterns. Drop shotting homemade rubber dice and Xzone Deception Worms along the weed edges was productive. We were also able to drag 1/2 ounce football jigs to pick off a few of the better fish. Weekend recreational boaters were abound no matter where we tried to get away from them.

Smallmouth Bass
TechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationBrowns lake has large pockets of submerged vegetation. I used the Helix to find where the vegetation ended and would rocket the jig through vegetation and get the bite. I threw this same jig at boat dock and the northerns seemed to like it!

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueFootball JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationHad just a few hours to fish. Picked up bites dragging a 1/2 ounce football jig along the weed edges. Fish still in all phases of the spawn with water temps between 66-68 degrees.
- Species
Largemouth Bass
TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDocksMost bites were in 4-8’ of water. Finesse jigs and Neko rigs did the bulk of the damage today with a few drop shot fish mixed in. Rock bass were abundant and active, but a sure fire sign we were too shallow.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueNeko RigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationWas a rainy day and fish were tucked deep in the weeds in the middle of the lake. Used live scope to find holes in the tall submerged weed beds. Would drift the neko rigged fínese craw over the weeds and then let it drop in the holes. Produces many hard strikes on the swim, the drop and even while just sitting on the bottom. Floating claws work. This could work many places.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueNeko RigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureDocksFish in all stages of the spawn. Shallow spawners and fry guarders were biting early and often in the shallows…..as the day wore on they bite dried up and found a secondary pattern on the weed edges. Most bites were on the bottom with a very few chasing the bait up in the water column. Lots of 1.25 to 2 pound buck bass.
