This girl is a new PB - 8lb 8oz - on a Z-Man Big TRD in GP. More fish were moving but we ran out of daylight on this trip. Worth fishing right as the sun comes up or all the way until its dark.

The summer heat has really beat up on the shallow bass in Buffalo Lake - the only pattern I found was fishing deep water in the shade. I chased the shade around the bank all day and caught good numbers.

Water was murky so only black/blue patterns drew bites. One on a Texas rig beaver style bait but then several on the Chatterbait Mini Max - my new favorite way to fish a vibrating jig.

Two of the bigger bass of the tournament season for me, both caught on a Keitech Easy Shiner behind a Megabass Okashira Screwhead jighead. We caught a handful of crappie on dropshots and ned rigs to tip us on the bass chasing crappie in a creek mouth.

It was tough sledding this morning, trying to locate fish. The water was muddier than usual and spawning beds were difficult to spot. In the afternoon, more fish were moving and we could locate beds in shallow spots. Both the spinnerbait and chatterbait were effective, but the bites had more purchase on the spinnerbait, right over the top of beds.

Reds and oranges were the key for our group - I caught several on the same Lava Craw Z-Man Chatterbait Elite EVO, including a couple pre-spawn females. The best size were up shallow but we found groups running the first drop off in about 5 feet of water, 10-20yd off the bank.
