TechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureRock PileThe vegetation in Buffalo Lake is lacking and what is there is mostly dead or unhealthy. But if you take the time to find the rock piles with some amount of vegetation on them in 2-6ft, pitch a swim jig into the grass, you just might snatch a donkey. A bright or bold color will be your best option as the water clarity is no more than 2-3ft on average. Chartreuse added into your presentation will generate some extra bites on sunny days, and straight black almost always produces well here

TechniqueBlade BaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureRip RapLook For the Wind Blown Shorelines, and look for the Rip Rap areas on them, Cast and work your Blade Bait Slowly. If you start to feel the vibration of the bait working slow down a little. Use a 6' piece or mono and tie it to your braid, it works as a shock absorber. Good Luck

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationI was fishing the SlayNation MN kayak tounament and pulled out this 4 pound bass on a deep hump. Hump meaning I was fishing the tippy top where you can see the drop off on the charts and on livescope! I could see this fish on the scope at around 12 ft where it meets the bottom of the shelf ( shelf meaning a rapid drop off, depth ranges are in 1ft increments like a literal shelf you have at home ). This big girl came up and striked and missed. Focusing back on this large mouth I threw numerous different baits at her. Wether it be drop shot with a yum craw, or a KBL dirty dan ned rig! Nothing could get her to bite. I backed off a little bit to give the bass a different angle/approach when I decided to pick up the chatterbait! Just after the 2nd cast with the chatter bait and working it like a jig ( let it drop but give it more aggressive hops. Let the bait touch the bottom, Reel in so your rod til hits the water and then give it a hard yank so the rod is completely 180 degrees ). Once I did that BAM ol' girl hit on the drop. I can say confidently that if you replicate this anywhere you will succeed!
