Largemouth BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Popping)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureFlooded BrushThere was a shad spawn going on almost everywhere in the mornings. The bigger largemouth wanted the popper in a white color. I tried a few other colors and lures such as the super spook jr, but the popper in a white color caught the bigger largemouth. After the early morning shad spawn action calmed down, a wake bait worked well to still pick up some keepers, but mostly smallmouths. Something about that popper that the large green ones were loving for those four days I was on the water.

Largemouth BassTechniqueShakey HeadsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureBouldersReally slow day of fishing. Still caught a limit but had to work pretty hard for it. There was no wind the the water was pretty clear. Caught all my fish deeper on main lake points.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureBrush PilesWater was over 10 feet high. Fish are in brush piles on the original shoreline. Shad color swim jigs pulled through the piles were the most productive bait. Spinnerbaits worked while it was cloudy and raining.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureRiver ChannelsUsed the Stunna 112 in Shad color to locate largemouth in/near deeper channel swings. Larger fish were caught slowly swimming small swimbaits (3.3 inch Fat Swing) parallel in 15-20 fow. Some as deep as 25 feet. Fish were near the bottom but would come up 5-10 feet to hit lures as water was fairly clear.
