Smallmouth BassTechniqueNed RigsSeasonFallStructureBouldersWe had a productive day fishing for Smallies. Once we found them, they were very cooperative. They were on shelf areas and rock piles. By mid day, they had moved to about 30ft of water.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureRock PileI was actually targeting crappie, but didn't locate them. I ended up catching Smallies instead. 16in, 15in, and a couple more around 11in. During the mid afternoon with strong sun they were underneath floating vegetation near shore. Later I found some in a rock pile. Calm weather.

CrappieTechniqueCrappie Long Lining (Pulling/Trolling)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureHumpsThis was our first time trolling for Crappie and it seemed to work the best. The fish did not appear in large schools, so covering water was key. The Shad Raps worked consistently, but we caught several on curly tail grubs as well. The most important factor was getting down to them. They were still down around 20ft. and we were moving about 1 to 1.2 mph. However, we did find just a few starting to come up to shallow shorelines. They averaged around 13 inches and right around 1 pound.
