Hot day! Didn't check water temp. Sorry. HOT. Caught a couple big girls in 18-20 feet just off the base of the grass (hydrilla) line. North end of the lake. Texas rigged Xzone Blitz in Red Bug. I tried other worms and colors, but that particular one was the deal. Same exact situation as the weekend prior, so there's something to it y'all!

This bait gets bites. The Senko works year round. Throw in and around brush. Texas rig weightless. Texas rig light weight. Dip the tail in chartreuse dye for more bites. Check out the video to see some of the fish you can catch on Canyon Lake with a Senko.

Crankbaits work well on Canyon Lake. The bass are chasing shad often and the Rapala DT Series crankbaits are good at tricking them into biting. These baits work best when you can make contact with the structure or cover on the retrieve. Match the size crankbait to the depth you are fishing. Canyon Lake has very clear water, but up the river the clarity can get much murkier. Use realistic colors in clear water and bright colors in darker water. Canyon Lake is a clear lake most of the time. Spinnerbaits will catch bass most of the year. Best around laydowns and submerged trees. Run the bait over the tree limps and make contact to trigger bites. Swimbaits and grubs can be used as trailers. A slow seedy retrieve with occasional flicks work with spinnerbaits.
