TechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureRip RapFish appear to be in the middle of the spawn with the increase in water temperature. Larger fish have bloody tails from fanning. The bite is very tough right now but largemouth bass are still actively chasing shallow crankbaits. The fish are feeding on Bluegill heavily and following them to shallow, rocky areas during the early parts of the day.

TechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureRip RapThe water is currently 5 feet low making it VERY difficult to launch/load your boat, use caution!! The water temp was higher than I was expecting at 72 degrees. I was able to find them all over the lake, with a frog around pad stems, with a flick shake rig under docks, and with a squarebill on rip rap. They're definitely in the spawning phase as the 4lber had been fanning her bed based on how her tail looked. Overall good day!

TechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonSummerStructureRip RapI got out before all the pleasure boaters and jet skiers since this lake gets crazy about 11am or so. I’m glad I did because I found them early. I was cranking the dirt with a squarebill and had my boat pinned up against the rip rap. I had to make contact with the rock to get bit. The water was high and dirty, so I upsized my squarebill from the 50x to the 100x and it paid off with a nice 4lb northern strain largemouth. Decent day!

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureLily PadsI was able to get out after the historic tornados that hit the area. Luckily no one in my family was hurt or affected, but did have a few friends who had some significant damage to their properties, thinking of them as they begin to rebuild. Fished in the pouring rain, but it paid off with this 5lb+, 20.5” female. I found her in pad stems in about 3 FOW quite a ways off from the bank. The lake is super low, probably still 3-4ft below normal pool, which is why it was only 3 FOW. Kinda treacherous getting around out there, but worth it. They’re starting to fire up it seems.
