Fishing around rock piles, boulders and rip rap I have been catching smallmouth really good on a jerkbait. I’ve been using a really long pause 10+ seconds and watching the fish come off the bottom to eat it on livescope.

28 degree air temp, 38 degree water temp. Calm sunny day, smallies were holding tight to bottom. I could barely see them down in the rocks on live scope around current breaks. A very slow subtle presentation with the blade bait was the key. Let the bait hit the bottom, lightly vibrate so you feel 3-5 pulses and let it fall again. Most fish I wouldn’t feel the bite, just was heavy when I lifted up.
