Largemouth BassTechniqueUmbrella RigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureShadCaught several largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass targeting bait balls and 45 degree banks leading into spawning areas. Plenty of fish have moved up to spawn and are already on beds, but plenty are still making their way there and staged up outside of spawning areas.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Popping)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructurePointsOn the graphs, I could see an abundance of baitfish around creek mouths with nearby channel ledges. I caught a few short largemouths off a point in this area before this smallie took the bait! I don’t seem to catch many smallmouths on topwater so I thought I’d pass this info along for likeminded anglers. Good luck!

Smallmouth BassTechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureStanding TimberFind a shoreline where there are small trees in the water and a ledge nearby. I had the most success where the boat was in 30-40’ of water and I was casting into 2-6’. They weren’t biting if I had a trailer on. Just the spinner bait retrieved at a casual pace.
