Late summer/early fall: there is no shortage of docks and marinas on Chick and the fish will stack up there. You can spend all day skipping docks and find success. When that slows down (or maybe never starts), try staying on top. Look for covered docks and marinas because they provide an abundance of shade. Also, the docks that end in 8-10’ of water offer the best habitat for bigger bass. Docks have complex structure within 4’ of the surface so you shouldn’t spend much time on the lake bottom. Run a popper or a Plopper parallel with the length of the dock and target the dock posts and/or the shade line. If the water is stained, go bright and noisy. A little more subtle if the water has decent clarity. This will likely vary from one dock to the next.

Most of my fish came flipping lay downs and shallow brush with a rage bug in junebug color. Fish were in the thick of it and had a time pulling them out so a heavier line was important! Also landed a few on the Zman pop shadz and have been really impressed by this bait! The ability to skip a popper way back under cover is awesome and the action on this thing is as good as any popper I’ve thrown and it’s weedless so you can’t go wrong! I was fishing early morning but when the sun got high started flipping the brush and the bite continued! Overall good day! So what are you waiting for? Get these things in your arsenal and get out and catch some giants!!

Fished a club tournament targeting largemouth on shallow 6 to 8 foot grass flats near the main channel. Caught a 4 lbs 9 oz LM on a nose hooked 5" Strike King Caffeine shad with a 1/16th oz nail weight inserted in the body. Would cast out over the grass and let it flutter down into it and just do light jerks on the rod. The Owner wacky jungle hook did a great job pinning the bass on the roof of the mouth perfectly. To save my bait I screwed a cps small hitchhiker in the nose then inserted the hook. 2 casts later hooked up to an 8 or 9 lbs Lm but lost it at the boat when he made a run under it. Unfortunately my braid to leader connection failed. Caught a few short fish the rest of the morning. In the layer part of the day went shallow and skipped a wacky senko on the same set up over topped out grass on the bank in 1 to 2 ft of water and caught a 2 lbs 11 oz LM. Alternated the rest of the day between the caffeine shad and the senko and caught several more short fish. Ended 3rd in my club tournament and had lunker.
