Smallmouth BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureReefThis is the most clear lake I have ever seen and it's in a land of very clear lakes. It was overcast and windy so we fished the west shore and the huge rock reef. We got smallmouth on rooster tails, spinner baits and mostly wacky rig. Biospawn and Senko's both killed!

Smallmouth BassTechniqueNed RigsSeasonFallStructureReedsDeer Lake's fall pattern (Early October) seemed too be very focused on fish hanging around remaining vegetation. Reeds that were around sand & rock seemed to hold LOTS of fish, even if the water was very shallow. Flipping a ned rig around the reeds caught smallmouth & largemouth. Bigger fish could be caught on offshore reefs, but the larger schools seemed to be concentrated around reeds. Reed lines near deeper water were VERY stacked. Ned rig and dropshot were the main producers, with the football jig also getting some bites. Flipping Texas rigs into the reeds caught some decent largemouth as well.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonFallStructureRock PileIf you found weeds just outside of rock piles or large boulders, you could simultaneously catch largies and smallies. There was one day you could throw almost anything and they’d bite (moving or finesse) but when conditions became tougher, my biggest fish came on this set up.
