It was very windy and the day started pretty cold. Fishing wasn’t any better very slow. The bass seemed to be spread out and catches seemed random. Managed to catch a few in one of the channels and then finished the day catching my two largest in a flat with submerged vegetation. Caught a handful of pike as well.

Week of 05/15/2023 Had 3 trips this weekend and boy was it a blast ! The bass have officially moved to beds; you can see them scattered all across the lake both Smallmouth and Largemouth. You can also see a lot of them roaming around the same areas but they are snakebitten, and they only have one thing on their minds and that is to spawn. This is the first wave or so I want to say, not entirely sure the first time I have ever both seen Smallies and Largies on beds together next to each other as well ! Please please please if you are bed fishing practice catch and release and do not put these fish in the livewell for a picture at the end of the day, or keep for dinner. I understand your license is your choice but to keep spawning fish will hurt Delavan in the long run. Pike have been all over the place 5ft-20ft jerkbaits in firetiger, swimbaits (5/16oz-3-4/0 hook jig head color does not matter) 4 inch biggmouth fishing swimbait. Key for these is a glob of super glue from the jighead to the plastic u wont burn through them because of how they bond together. Anything with one hook I have been utilizing to allow me to not get the cold water algae which has still been terrible. A LS Lures pinhead does great due to its shutter style and weed cutting abilities. Crappie were loaded on secondary points off of browns and willow point in 10-17 ft, I saw quite a bit mixed in with the spawning bass but did not target them. Panfish had been mixed in with the crappie, a Bojangle lil spermy in white paired with a 64th oz red or black cubby head on a slip bobber set at 1.5 ft with a spike or waxie. Walleyes: Netted 1 12 incher tried targeting but could see them swimming on live-scope but they would not eat. Lots of rumors of people seeing muskies wonder why ? Tip of the week soft split rings on jerkbaits for fish just barely taping it allows for great hookup percentages ! Lake should be on fire in a week or so. Have some openings for the month of June as well ! (Open dates in May left 27th,28th, Half Day 29th). Joe won big bass this week with a Delavan whopper 5.02 lber !
