Smallmouth BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureRock PileKiller day today. Started at sunrise around 5:30am and fished until about 11:30am from my kayak. Caught 24 smallmouth bass in total including a handful over 3lbs (my pb in this pic was 3.75lb). Switched to a dropshot over the ned rig since I saw that there were lots of small minnows jumping around (Google says maybe they are “eulachon”) and smallmouth were hammering the presentation all day, even when the sun was high in the sky. Sometimes when they were fighting they would spit out the small minnows they were eating so I think imitating that is the way to go. I like the green pumpkin color but maybe silver/white would work to match the forage. I used a 1/4oz weight since some of the fish were pretty deep, 20ft+ of water. Trick was to find rocky areas without underwater weeds since there’s a lot of vegetation in a lot of the lake.

Fished in the evening and caught 7 smallmouth bass. The bass were caught in a few different spots with the same characteristics, a point and steep ledge to deep 20+ ft of water.

Kayaked around and found a point and ledge combo that the smallies were stacked up on. Caught 5 of them in a super short span of time in the same spot. Not exactly sure what the depth was where I caught them but the drop off goes to 20+ feet of water pretty quickly according to navionics.
