You can catch fish flipping docks but they were mostly small and larger bass were hard to come by. Caught bigger fish cranking in 15-20’ deep rock piles and rocky wind blown points. Bass were chasing shad while the wind was blowing. Once the wind stopped, the fishing died down until the sun came out and the bass pulled off the rocks a bit. Caught the biggest of the bass at 7.58 once the sun was high and hot.

Generally in the prespawn, Eagle Mountain’s water fluctuates from a couple feet high to a couple feet low. You can find them and submerged vegetation anytime the water is high enough to reach it. Eagle Mountain generally doesn’t offer much vegetation but when it is in the water they get in it every single time. I have caught fish in less than a foot of water in this submerged vegetation countless times and it just proves to me that bass love being shallow. Don’t get me wrong, I have had my best days offshore but this is one technique that you won’t always find on the water. I set my rod up with a fast gear ratio real and 40 to 50 pound braided line. You can use any size weight do you want on your flipping rig but I really like to throw a 1/2 or above. All you have to do is flip it up onto the bank and work it through the grass or vegetation and work it as subtlety and quietly as possible. Good luck y’all!
