Memorial day 2025. Air temp was about 50 with a bit of a cooling front. The water was colder than expected not even hitting 60 degrees. The fish were very much bottom oriented as all bites came slow dragging on bottom. There was a minor grass edge developing at about 8-10ft deep and as the sun came up they seemed to be right at the transition. No bites in the grass. Some fish especially in low light were in 4-6ft and may have been setting up for spawn as the bite was really light and finicky. Could have been blind bed fish but still had bellies on them so it is just shy of spawn or early spawn. Casting right to the bank and dragging up to that 10ft edge produced all day. Any moving bait we threw was untouched including bluegill swimbaits which I would have thought would trigger a fish or two if it was spawn and they were on bed.

It was a bit windy 5-10 mph, and the lake is crystal clear down more than 15'. Crappie were holding tight to large trees that sat in 10-20' of water. Jigging near the deeper ends produced fish, but it was necessary to weed through many aggressive sunfish and small bass to get to the target species.

Bass were scattered across weedy flats and dropoffs all morning and afternoon. Slower steady retrieves, lift and drops, moderate retrieves with occasional shakes, and fat retrieves just below the surface all produced fish, with slow and moderate taking the biggest fish. Only the occasional pickerel showed up, so it was a good day.
