Pops and pauses did not produce anything but just a simple steady retrieve was key. The Firecraw Jackhammer is the perfect color this time of the year to stand out and get those active bass.

While the Pee Wee football jig is falling, keep a semi-tight line as many of the bites I got were on the initial fall. I mixed it up with two types of retrieves. 1) dragging the bottom slowly with no lift whatsoever. 2) medium hops about 1-1.5ft up, and then get bit on the fall. The Rage Menace allowed the jig to keep a small profile with a little kick vs a Rage Craw which had too much kick around this time of the year + water temp. Tight lines!
