Largemouth Bass
TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSummerStructureMatted GrassIt was slow bite after the sun came up and the topwater bite slowed down. Tied the wacky worm on and threw at week edges and drop offs. A lot of small bass but the action stayed steady.

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationWater in this lake is quite stained, and has only maybe 1.5ft clarity so submerged weeds don't grow too deep. Water temp at about 80 degrees. The better quality bass were in 6 to 8 fow on greener submerged vegetation. Chuck-and-winding a white chatterbait worked well to catch several 3 pounders. Retrieved a chatterbait as slow as it would still vibrate, as close to the weeds as possible, and making contact then snapping off the vegetation. Also added a few keeper largemouth with a hollow body frog in the pads and over the shallow weeds at sunset.

TechniqueHard Topwater (Prop)SeasonFallStructureSubmerged VegetationSeptember 22: a cloudy, breezy day. With the boat in only 8' to 9' of water, the bigger bass were biting on the calmer shore on a plopper. You could catch some of the fish that missed the topwater by winding a spinnerbait through the area, or dropping a neko rigged senko in.

TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationFish lake can be super fun, and Tuesday evening July 5th, it was just that. So many frog bites so little time! It was mostly calm and lightly raining. Storms and lightning were around but miles away. Some bites came near openings in the lily pads or near wood, but the key to the better size and numbers of bass was to keep the frog quickly walking over the submerged vegetation that was just touching the surface of the water. This was deeper than the pads, more like 4' of water. Only pausing the frog for a half second every half dozen twitches was enough to give them time to crush it. I usually fish the frog with much longer pauses and work more slowly, but the bass apparently weren't on board with that program. They wanted it moving!

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationEarly in the morning, I was catching fish using a frog among the weeds. As that bite slowed down, I switched to a small Texas rigged creature bait and when possible a chatterbait among the weeds. All other structure on the lake wasn't producing any bites.

TechniqueVertical Jigging Shallow (0-9')SeasonWinterStructureBaitfishOn 11/7/2020: After disappointing bass fishing, my daughters and I switched to catching the panfish we were seeing in schools on the graph in about 8 ft of water. We caught decent perch casting grubs on 1/16oz or 1/8oz panfish jigs tipped with bright colored grubs.

TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureMatted GrassI didn't get any bites running a chatter sit over the submerged weeds or flipping a Texas rigged bait among the weeds. However as the sun started setting they started hitting frogs among the weeds.

TechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureLily Pads2nd Weekend in May. Water teamps 58-60F. Some fish likely spawning, but water clarity does not facilitate sight fishing. Definitely a population of fish still staging to spawn as well. Green Pumpkin or Bluegill colored Chatterbaits / Bladed Jigs were the key. Covering water and grass & any visible cover from 1-4' produced high numbers of catches along with several quality 3lb plus fish. Was difficult to get bit on any other lures.
