Lately we've found success throwing a swimjig with a small swimbait trailer to mimic the forage. Throwing the swimbait on the swimjig allows you to cast much further. It makes reaching schools of fish much easier without having to constantly reposition your boat.

Trolling the river channel looking for rock/boulders or brush piles in 25-35’ of water. Once I find fish on the electronics I drop live bait just above the fish.

We were catching smallies, spots and catfish using live shiners in 20-25’ of water. We were up the river arms finding anything that was holding bait: boulders, fallen trees etc. The key was finding bait.
